The Power Of The Morning
Over the past several years, there’s been an increased adoption to what’s been known as Miracle Morning. The funny aspect of it is the first reaction of the great majoroty of people who hear about the concept for the first: I’m not a morning person, this won’t work for me. However, as we, myself included, start understanding what it is, what it does and how it positively impacts our lives, shift our the way of looking at it to: oh, I need to at least try it.
I believe it’s common sense, at least amongs those I hang out with, that the way we start our day is most likely the way the day will unfold. If we wake up thinking we didn’t have enough sleep, we need to hit the snooze button or we set the alarm clock to the very last possible moment for us not to be late for work, we will inevitably drag those feelings of not having/being enough, tiredness, unwillingness and rush along with us throughout the day. When we stop and think about why we’re so stressed, overwhelmed and we never have enough time to do the things we want to do, it kinda makes sense.
Although waking up an hour or so earlier than we must may seem the worst thing imaginable, if we pay attention to the fact that by doing so we’ve just gained an extra hour to enjoy our breakfast and shower, to give attention to our kids and partner and to enjoy the ride to work, we’ll soon realize that we are no longer a coffee spill or a small traffic jam away from getting late to work. Therefore, we are no longer starting the day feeling not having/being enough, tired, unwilling and rushed because we’ll have had time enough to get ready and to enjoy the things we did without concerns about time.
However, we must remind ourselves that waking up is only the other side of the going to sleep coin. The thoughts and feelings we go to sleep with are most likely the thoughts and feelings we will wake up with. Thus, it may be a good idea to practice some positive affirmations as to how we want to be feeling when we wake up such as “my body is so intelligent that it will give itself the proper amount of rest it needs during my sleep”, “tomorrow, I’ll wake up so enthusiastic that everyone I come across will feel my high energy”, “tomorrow, I’ll wake up so energised that I’m going to be able to perform at 110% in all my activities”. Bear in mind that only doing these affirmations aren’t enough, before affirming whatever we want to experience in the next morning, we better have a clear schedule of what we’re going to be doing, otherwise that extra hour will be dominated by stress and anxiety. So, it’s also a good idea to decide what that extra hour will be filled up with so we don’t have to bounce around making decisions.
Try it out and I guarantee that it will feel like a miracle.
Happy morning!
